Lowe's Canada commits $1 million to help communities affected by the pandemic

Lowe’s Canada, one of the country’s largest home improvement retailers, announced a $1 million philanthropic investment to support Canadians and communities as the pandemic rages on.

Lowe’s operates under more than 475 stores under different banners throughout the country including RONA, Reno-Depot, and Dick’s Lumber.

To meet specific needs of communities, Lowe’s and its affiliated stores will be giving a total of $241,000 in cash and initiatives, $228,000 to support RONA store employees, $1,000 for each of Lowe’s Canada’s corporate stores to local food banks, and a $1,200 per store donation to the Children’s Miracle Network and Opération Enfant Soleil.

The company has also donated 36,000 boxes to Ontario food banks through the Feed Ontario corporation, as well as plastic rolls to healthcare workers.

“Over the past several weeks, our more than 26,000 Lowe’s Canada associates have worked around the clock to ensure our retail and Pro customers have access to the essential products they need to keep their families safe, their essential businesses running, and their communities healthy,” said Tony Hurst, president of Lowe’s Canada. “With the initiatives announced today, we want to contribute to meeting other types of essential needs within our communities.”

Operational changes in Lowe’s, RONA, and Reno-Depot stores include reduced opening hours, limiting the number of in-store at the same time, increased cleaning and disinfecting activities, protective Plexiglass shields at all cash registers and service desks, and contactless curbside pick-up for online orders.
