Hungry Man frozen TV dinners just got some fine dining competition out of Montreal.

Local restaurants have been adjusting their menus to stay afloat amid the pandemic, and Joe Beef is now offering ready-to-cook TV dinners for their hungry Montreal crowd.

Apart from offering take-out pickups, the Joe Beef TV dinner is a complete meal for one person and “everything you need to watch your favourite program,” says the Joe Beef website.

For a smooth $30, Montrealers can dive into Joe Beef at home. The menu item includes old-fashioned veal stew cooked in Marsala with baby onions, celery root and mushrooms, cream sauce, a winter truffle, with rice pilaf, and carrots on the side.

The TV dinner also comes with a slice of chocolate cake frosted with vanilla buttercream and a cherry on top.

Joe Beef’s owners, Dave Macmillan and Fred Morin, also launched a TV show to give Montrealers something to watch while eating.

Their TV dinners require “some preparation,” says the website and all directions are written directly on the label, just like in the 1950s when TV dinners became popular.

If you’re missing the tastiness and ambiance of Joe Beef, their TV dinner might help to soothe your craving.

For Montrealers who aren’t in the mood to cook during the holidays, the popular restaurant is also boasting their Menu des fêtes, featuring upscale meals and wines available for pickup, starting at $185.
