When Montreal’s Victoria Park launches a new fitness program, you know it’s always going to be something big.

Welcome to VicSpin, Montreal’s newest and coolest spin studio with choreographed sound and light, custom-designed stage bikes, and integrated full-body conditioning.

To get the scoop on this state of the art spin studio, we spoke to Nancy Essebag-Christie, Victoria Park’s Marketing Director and all around awesome being.

Why did you feel the need to re-brand the spin program at Victoria Park?

We previously had our spin program as part of our regular group fitness offering in our Health Club.  We were told we had the best spinning instructors in Montreal, but our space was looking tired, as we needed an upgrade.  We gutted and revamped the space, brought in the best bikes, lights and sound system available. People are loving the new look and feel.

What makes this spinning class different than the rest?

We have been told the VicSpin studio has the best indoor cycling bikes in Montreal (customized Stages bikes), the best light show, and the best sound system.  Combine that with the best instructors, and we have an offering that is unmatched. As well, people love our unlimited membership option.  For a single price, which is similar to what other studios that offer an unlimited membership, our unlimited members get access to our specialized classes, executive locker room, and more!

Rumour is you had a specialist fly in from the US….

We involved several specialists from the US that were instrumental in building some of the leading spin studios in America. The studio’s lighting was designed the same team commissioned to light up cathedrals in Paris, rock concerts in the UK, and the NASA Space Shuttle.

How often are the classes and how much are they?

The classes are offered seven days a week, morning, noon, and night.  A first time visit is $10 and includes spin shoes, which are mandatory for all classes.  After that, classes can range from $20 to $25 per class depending on the size of package you buy.

Why do you think people love spinning so much?

It is a great cardio workout that can also feel like a dance party. It doesn’t feel like a workout, but you’re actually burning a lot of calories while having fun. The time just flies by and you walk out feeling awesome and accomplished.  Our instructors are there to guide and motivate you to go beyond what you thought was possible. Our Spin and Sculpt, Abs or Yoga classes offers more than just a cardio-driven experience, finishing off with specialized sculpting, abs, or Yoga work so you can target even more muscle groups. People love the music, the burn and the feeling of being part of such an amazing community. It’s truly a party on a bike!
