Health Canada recalls hand sanitizers that could pose health risks

May 3 2021, 5:27 pm

Health Canada is advising Canadians that two hand sanitizer brands are being recalled because they may pose health risks.

The federal health agency says both products may contain ethyl acetate, which is an “unacceptable ingredient” in hand sanitizers.

Health Canada continually updates its list of hand sanitizers that may pose health risks so that Canadians can “easily identify products they may have purchased and take appropriate action.”

Canadians are encouraged to check it regularly for updated products that have been recalled.

Health Canada is advising consumers to stop using the following recalled products and return them to a pharmacy for proper disposal.

For anyone who may have used the products and has concerns, the department says to contact a healthcare professional.
