Environment Canada issues freezing rain warning for Montreal

It’s going to messy out there today.

Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for Montreal due to freezing rain on Saturday.

The freezing rain warning in effect for: Châteauguay – La Prairie area, Laval area, Longueuil – Varennes area, and Montréal Island area.

According to Environment Canada, snow will change to freezing rain for a few hours today over southernmost parts of Quebec, and ice accretion amounts of 2 to 5 millimetres are expected between this morning and this afternoon.

Precipitation will change to rain in parts of the Eastern Townships later this afternoon, and it will change back to snow by the end of the day before ending later this evening.

Expect roads to be icy and slippery, so take extra care out there.

The weather should improve by Sunday, although it looks like snow is back on Christmas eve. And that chance of a White Christmas is pretty high.
