San Jose Sharks winger Evander Kane let it all hang out, as the NHL’s only representative in the 2019 edition of ESPN the Magazine’s Body Issue.

The East Vancouver native is the first NHL player to appear in the popular annual tradition since his Sharks teammates, Joe Thornton and Brent Burns, bared it all two years ago.

Other NHL players to strip down for the magazine include Tyler Seguin (2015), Joffrey Lupul (2013), Brad Richards (2012), Ryan Kesler (2011), as well as Zdeno Chara, Bill Guerin, Chris Higgins, Mike Komisarek, and Sheldon Souray for the inaugural Body Issue in 2009.

In an interview with ESPN, Kane credits hockey for his, uh, best asset.

“I got a lot of compliments on my butt through the years. When you’re in a squat position on the ice and skating low to the ground your ass gets a bit of a workout. I guess that’s one of the areas that looks good apparently.”

Among the photos that made the final cut was one image of Kane posing in his skates with a hockey stick, and nothing else in his hometown of Vancouver.

Kane wasn’t the only Canadian to pose for the Body Issue this year, as race car driver James Hinchcliffe of Oakville, Ontario had nothing but a helmet to cover himself.

The most entertaining pictures this year had to come from the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line, featuring five 300-pound athletes.
