Environment Canada issues special 'warming' and rainfall statement for Montreal

A special weather statement is in effect for Montreal as temperatures will warm up this week and the city will see significant rainfall.

According to Environment Canada, the warming and rain will take place between Monday and Wednesday.

The weather statement is in effect for the following areas:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

“A warm front from the Central United States will move across the province over the next few days. Temperatures will gradually rise reaching more than 10 degrees on Wednesday,” said Environment Canada in a statement.

“Rainfall amounts between 20 and 30 millimeters are expected between this evening and Wednesday. The rain combined with the runoff from the melting of snow could cause localized flooding.”

According to the weather forecast, the rain will clear up on Thursday, as sunny conditions are expected, but snow will return on Friday.
