Montreal is starting off the second week of March under a special weather statement.
Environment Canada issued the alert early on Monday morning, calling for “significant freezing precipitation” along the St. Lawrence River throughout the day.

For Montreal, rain is expected to begin near midnight tonight and with temperatures forecasted to hover near the freezing mark, the weather agency says it is “highly likely” that the rain will change to freezing overnight Monday.
Issued at 4:49 am on Monday, the special weather statement is in effect for the following areas:
- Châteauguay – La Prairie area
- Laval area
- Longueuil – Varennes area
- Montreal Island area
Environment Canada urges citizens to continually monitor weather alerts and updates when a special weather statement is issued.
