When the Vancouver Canucks took a look at their schedule a few weeks back, they probably didn’t expect Monday’s matchup against the Montreal Canadiens to be against two teams on the hunt for a playoff spot.
But while Vancouver has won just three of their last 10 games, the Canadiens have been the opposite, picking up seven victories in that timeframe to pull themselves out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings and suddenly within two points of a postseason appearance.
With a 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT puck drop for the Monday contest, folks in Western Canada will be wise to duck out of work a few minutes early, or at least sneak a glance or two on your phone throughout the first period.
But it might be a fruitless endeavour if you find yourself flicking through your TV guide looking for the game.
Today’s game is available on French-language TV through the TSN-owned RDS channel, should you have access, but it is only available in English through Prime Video’s Monday night hockey streaming-only service.
Prime’s Monday Night Hockey content is available to anyone in British Columbia, Quebec, and the rest of Canada with an internet connection and an Amazon Prime account. Prime members will receive the games at no extra cost, while subscriptions are $9.99 per month or $99 annually.
The good news is that most major devices can access the Prime Video app as long as they have a stable internet connection, with a full list of available devices here.
The Canucks return to Monday Night Hockey on Prime on January 27, when they take on the St. Louis Blues on the road, and again on March 24, when they visit the New Jersey Devils. Both matches have a 7:30 pm ET/4:30 PT puck drop and are the team’s final two games on the platform this season. Meanwhile, the Canadiens kickoff a Monday night doubleheader on the final Prime broadcast night of the season, taking on the Chicago Blackhawks on April 14 at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT.
