Wellington airport now welcoming visitors with gigantic Pride rainbow

Airports aren’t just about getting from point A to B — sometimes they offer a travel treat of their own, like this airport that transformed into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or this incredible new wing, which is basically Avatar IRL.

When a city is as expressive and welcoming as New Zealand’s capital of Wellington, even the airport runway is an opportunity to create an inclusive experience for your visitors.

Leading up to the city’s Pride Festival and hosting of the World International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) conference in March, Wellington Airport has painted a giant 3,000 square metre rainbow beside its runway.

Painted with special temporary turf paint that lasts up to four weeks, the display will be sure to welcome all visitors with flying colours (see what we did there?).
