This article is part of an ongoing series in partnership with Tourism Whistler to raise awareness of how the destination is opening safely to welcome guests this summer.

The COVID-19 crisis has forced many Canadians to postpone or completely cancel their summer travel plans. However, this doesn’t mean that we have to stay cooped up at home for the whole season.

Globetrotting through Europe is off the cards, but the opportunities to immerse yourself in nature here in BC are plentiful. We have access to one of the most iconic destinations in North America at our fingertips: Whistler.

Beautiful mountainside chalets, centrally-located hotels, and fully-equipped condominiums in Whistler are now open and ready to welcome you back. Each hotel and property is following stringent health and safety protocols including contactless check-ins, room spacing, and modified housekeeping to ensure guest and staff safety.

During a pandemic, things can change instantly. That’s why Whistler accommodations are offering flexible cancellation policies that allow you to adjust your plans if needed. While more accommodations are opening by the day, here are 10 equally wondrous places to stay during your next trip.

Nita Lake Lodge

Nita Lake Lodge is the perfect environment for a reset with oversized suites, views of Nita Lake, an organic spa, and an award-winning restaurant.

The hotel is adapting to the new normal with increased sanitation, digital check-ins, and enhanced staff training. Fix Café on site is open for takeout. Meanwhile, Cure Lounge and Patio allows for spacious lunchtime dining on the patio. It’s now possible to book a signature treatment at the serene Spa at Nita Lake Lodge ahead of time.

Adara Hotel

As a charming boutique accommodation in Whistler Village, the Adara Hotel puts you at the centre of it all. Choose between a suite or deluxe room and take note of the hotel’s sustainable initiatives like the in-room recycling program and zero-waste coffee and tea.

The hotel is reopening on July 1 for discounted family and friends groups and special events. There will be new pool protocols, sanitizing supplies available to guests, and a limited occupancy capacity. You can book a group dining experience at the adjoining Stonesedge Kitchen and share stories over delicious food.

Crystal Lodge

A mainstay in Whistler for over 30 years, Crystal Lodge is a storied sanctuary steps away from the mountain base. Wake up in a spacious guestroom, open your window to breathe in the fresh alpine air, and start planning a day of activities.

To allow for safe guest experiences, social distancing markers are visible throughout the hotel lobby. There is a three-person maximum in each elevator, and hand sanitizer dispensers are located in areas throughout the property. The pool and hot tub can be used only if a reservation is made with the front desk.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Whistler Village Suites

With a central location, the contemporary Delta Hotels by Marriott Whistler Village Suites gives you quick access to the Village Stroll, and cafes for your morning brew. Spacious guest suites give you plenty of room to unwind after a day on the mountain.

To welcome guests back, the hotel has new food and beverage protocols at its signature restaurants Hy’s Steakhouse and Brickworks Public House. Sanitization has increased in guest rooms and public spaces, and disinfectant wipes are available in each room. You can also use the hotel’s mobile app for contactless check-in and to order room service.

Inside the hotel, you can check-in using contactless technology and also make payments this way. There are enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols in guest rooms and public areas, and safe room service is now provided at no extra charge.

Listel Hotel Whistler

Another incredible spot for alpine adventure enthusiasts is the Listel Hotel Whistler, nestled in the heart of the Village. The hotel offers spacious deluxe rooms and suites, ideal for last-minute getaways.

The Listel is taking extra precautions that include modified housekeeping services and frequent sanitization of public spaces. Additionally, new food and beverage protocols are being implemented at the adjoining fine-dining restaurant, the Bearfoot Bistro.

Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel

Take a break from the bustle of Vancouver and relax during a stay at the award-winning Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel. It’s easy to maximize your time exploring when you reserve one of the centrally-located hotel’s modern rooms.

The lodge is currently open with frequent sanitization taking place throughout the property. The hotel’s café and sauna remain closed for the time being, stayover housekeeping services are temporarily suspended, and guest rooms are being thoroughly cleaned between bookings.

Sundial Boutique Hotel

If riding world-class trails is on your agenda, book a stay at the Sundial Boutique Hotel to be a part of the action. Take in views of the bike park from your balcony and treat yourself to room service during your stay.

Guests can anticipate a contactless check-in experience, with plexiglass screens installed at the front desk and social distancing markers in the lobby. New cleaning and sanitization systems are in place at Sundial, and rooms are being quarantined for 72 hours between guest stays as an extra safety measure.

It’s important to note that not all Whistler accommodations are open at this time. However, more properties are gradually reopening and complying with the highest health and safety standards.
