These beautiful Canadian islands prove that you don’t need to leave the country to have a future island getaway.

From Vancouver Island — a gorgeous gem in the Pacific Northwest — to Cape Breton — Nova Scotia’s jewel on the East Coast — there’s no end to the mesmerizing destinations that can be found within the Canadian borders.

To add to Canada’s extensive list of accolades and recognition, three Canadian islands were recently ranked on a list of the best islands in Canada, part of Travel + Leisure’s 2020 World’s Best Awards.

The annual list is compiled by the New York-based travel magazine, and readers rated islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.

According to this year’s awards, their survey closed on March 2, just before widespread stay-at-home orders were implemented as a result of COVID-19.

“The results reflect our readers’ experiences before the pandemic, but we hope that this year’s honorees will inspire your trips to come — whenever they may be,” said Travel + Leisure.

“With more than 30,000 to explore, Canada’s islands offer myriad options for travellers who want to get off the grid,” the magazine continued.
