Okay, we all know the feeling of frustration while strolling down the streets.
You’re heading to the office, it’s raining, your dog peed in your bed last night. That last GoT episode just didn’t cut it. You just need a vacation, but you also need to pay for those trips.
Now you’re scuffling your feet down a busy sidewalk. The person in front of you is too absorbed in their phone to walk at a humanly acceptable speed, the person next to that person is blowing cigarette smoke into your face. The one behind you is talking too loudly, and a bike just whizzed by and almost took you out.
The road rage is real, and being one of the busiest metropolises in the world, New York City has found a coping mechanismĀ in the form of punching bags.
A design studio called donttakethisthewrongway has installed yellow punching bags throughout the streets of Manhattan, as a part of New York City Design Week.
That’s right,Ā frustrated New Yorkers can now take their rage out on the punching bags, and carry out their day like the calm, respectable human beings that we all strive to be.

The Instagram caption revealing the punching bag reads:
A design concept for the public that explores designing common spaces for the frustrations we all face. Frustrations that go beyond designed systems and happen, well, because we are human.Ā The public punching bag offers an outlet for these emotions as a means to maybe develop a healthier way to address personal and collective issues in a public setting.Ā #nycdesignweek
Nothing like a little urban therapy. Can we get more of these installed throughout the world, please? This Tuesday feels like a Monday.
