Jul 26 2018, 5:54 pm

It’s hard to find a bad view in Vietnam, but we’re highlighting the most photogenic spots for taking that perfect Instagram snap throughout the country. The digital documentation of your memories is important, and being the envy of your friends won’t hurt either!

So whether you’ve been wandering around Southeast Asia for weeks, or are planning on flying in direct (and if you do, we insist you arrive in style via Hong Kong Airlines), you’ll want to make sure you have memories to last a lifetime with these amazing photo opportunities.

Here are some of the top photo spots in Vietnam.

Ha Long Bay

A post shared by Berenice Munoz (@alwaystravelb) on

As one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Ha Long Bay is the perfect natural backdrop for your Insta shot. Hop on a kayak, booze cruise, or any other floating vessel and cruise through the emerald green waters dotted with stunning limestone cliffs topped with rainforests. And then just kick back and watch your Instagram likes come streaming in.

Wearing a rice hat

A post shared by Dan Cusack (@darncusack) on

Okay this isn’t a specific location, but it is a staple for your Insta feed if you go to Vietnam.

The Vietnamese rice hat, also known as the conical hat, is a symbol of Vietnam, and serves a variety of purposes: shelter from the sun or rain; a bowl to scoop up water and rinse your face; a basket for collecting vegetables at the market; and a symbol of beauty, charm, and femininity of the Vietnamese women. You can usually get a photo with one of the fruit vendors holding the baskets and wearing their hat for a small fee.

In the rice fields

Life in Vietnam revolves around rice, and the terraced fields in areas such as Sapa, Hoang Su Phi, or Mu Cang Chai make for a stunning photo backdrop.

Hanoi mural street

Located on the sealed archways of the railway viaduct on Phung Hung Street in the Old Quarter, Hanoi’s artistic expressions capture the essence of Vietnam in a beautiful, lively, slightly hipster way. If that’s not the exact way you strive to describe your Insta feed, we don’t know what is!

On a beach

With a coastline of 3,260 km, Vietnam is jam-packed with picturesque beaches — and we’re guessing if you are travelling Southeast Asia, you are keeping a consistent beach theme on your feed. Pick a beach, any beach — a couple faves are Mui Ne or My Khe — and get that beach bum snap.

Ninh Binh

A post shared by Jeanyanty (@jeanyanty) on

Located a short drive outside of Hanoi city and often referred to as the Ha Long Bay on Land, Ninh Binh is a serene, magical, natural slice of heaven. This lesser-known gem will be a hit on your Insta feed.

Tran Quoc Pagoda

The oldest pagoda (temple) in Hanoi is also one of the most photogenic. With its towering tiers, vibrant colours and serene reflection on the lake, this landmark makes for a beautiful contrast to the hustle-and-bustle of Hanoi’s city life.

The streets of Hoi An

This picturesque little French town will capture your heart when you visit, and the hearts of your followers when you post your Insta. Strike a pose on the Japanese bridge, in front of a lantern shop, or anywhere along the streets and you’re sure to get a cute snap.

The busiest intersection of Hanoi

A post shared by La Zung (@lazung) on

The view from the top of Ham Ca Map intersection is a classic shot of Southeast Asia scooter traffic — we recommend taking a time-lapse for your Insta Stories. It’s quite mesmerizing to watch how the scooters, vehicles, carts, and pedestrians weave amongst each other with an almost dancer-like ability to flow past each other without ever colliding.

Saigon Central post office

Located in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), this grand, old-fashioned, pastel yellow landmark makes for a great backdrop for your Insta. The arched glass ceiling on the inside is a popular shot too!
