Here's why Niagara is the most romantic place to spend the weekend

Sure, you can have romantic moments in Toronto. But with all the city noise, traffic, and summertime humidity that we love to complain about (sorry), it’s a better option to swap the city for somewhere that you and your favourite person can embrace the beauty of Niagara.

The best part is that you don’t have to go far to find this kind of haven. In just over two hours’ drive from downtown Toronto, you can embrace the wonder of spending a couple of days in the Niagara region. Home to some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in Ontario, it’s the most romantic getaway you could ask for.

It’s time for you and your partner in life to set your out-of-office responses and discover what you’ve been missing in Niagara.

Can you imagine anything more romantic than starting your day off together over a delicious breakfast? Couple this with the most picturesque vista of Niagara Falls and you’ve got ultimate date goals. You can admire the beauty and power of the thundering Falls right from your hotel room at the Fallsview Hotel.

After all, it’s not often that you hear people say they’ve seen one of the natural wonders of the world at sunrise. But here, it’s yours to relish for as long as you like.

Take your wondrous morning to another level by focusing on relaxation and joining a yoga class in the most spectacular and beautiful setting ā€” behind Niagara Falls. You’ll have private access to Journey Behind the Falls, a 45-minute yoga session on the lower observation deck, and a bite to eat at Queenston Heights, the historic restaurant atop theĀ Niagara escarpment.

After your mesmerizing yoga experience, you can go exploring and head out on a hike in the Niagara Gorge. At theĀ Niagara Glen trailhead, make your way up stairways which lead to four kilometres of rugged paths that wind through this pocket ofĀ Carolinian Forest.

You’ll pass everything from prehistoric geological formations to wild flora and fauna, so there will be plenty of Instagram opportunities. Once you reach the top, you’ll be overlooking the jaw-dropping Niagara River and Whirlpool, and you’ll wonder why you didn’t visit Niagara sooner.

Of course, a trip to Niagara wouldn’t be complete without a taking a ride aboard a Hornblower Niagara Cruise and experiencing the thrill of the falls from the water. This iconic tour is an absolute must and it’s going to be another awesome thing that you and your favourite person can check off your couple’s bucket list. Besides, it’s the only time you’ll embrace getting caught in the mist and feel like you’re in a real-life-rom-com.

Cruising isn’t the only way you can enjoy time on the water in Niagara. This summer, make the most of your trip and travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a fun-filled day of couple activities. Only 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls, once you’re there you can take your pick from kayaking or paddleboarding (or do both) on the Lake. Have a kayak race and see who can stay on their paddleboard the longest without falling in. Prepare yourself for a lot of belly laughs.

Letā€™s not forget about the wine. Niagara, AKA wine country, is Canadaā€™s largest winemaking region with more than 140 wineries among its diverse landscape. Many of the lush vineyards will remind you of fairy-tale forests so youā€™ll want to spend time at one during your break away. VisitĀ Two Sisters VineyardsĀ and join an elevated tasting tour to explore the grapeĀ that makes this vineyard’s wine taste fruity and full-bodied.

When you feel like you’re at the amateur wine connoisseur stage, head back to Niagara Falls to experience the otherworldly sunset. At this moment, you’ll feel like you and your partner are the only two people in the world. But you’ll want to ask a stranger to take a photo of you together ā€” a selfie stick won’t do this justice. (You’ll thank us later!)

The Skylon Tower is an idyllic place to sit down for dinner after the sunset where you’ll still have a sensational view of the falls. Reserve your table in the revolving dining room and indulge in award-winning continentalĀ cuisine with the most legendary view. When you’re feeling recharged, head out to the bright lights of Niagara for some entertainment at the Fallsview Casino where you can enjoy drinks, gaming, and dancing at a nightclub if you feel like it.

When you return to Toronto, you’ll be telling the couples you know why it’s the most romantic place in Ontario. Be sure to send them this linkĀ so they can find out more information and plan their own Niagara experience!
