This shimmering Canadian ice castle opens January 4 (PHOTOS)

One of Canada’s largest ice castles is scheduled to open its frosty doors this Friday, and is complete with ice slides, frozen thrones, and, presumably, wanna-be ice queens belting out Frozen’s “Let It Go.”

Given the sheer magic of this collection of ice towers, we hardly blame anyone for feeling a small sense of royalty while wandering through Edmonton’s ice castle, especially once the sun goes down and the lights turn on.

Created by the aptly-named Ice Castles, Edmonton’s attraction is one of six other ice castles in North America, being joined by a second Canadian castle in Winnipeg.

If gorgeous ice sculptures are your thing, you can also check out Hotel de Glace in Quebec City, which allows you to stay the night in a seriously stunning ice-room.

You will have to pay to stay at Quebec’s ice hotel or check out Edmonton’s castle, but the pictures, memories, and Insta-cred you’ll end up with will be nothing short of priceless.

Here’s everything you need to know about Alberta’s icy wonderland.
