Canada issues travel advisory for Hawaii due to Category 4 hurricane threat
The Government of Canada has issued a travel warning for Hawaii due to a hurricane threat.
According to the federal government’s travel advisory, Hurricane Lane is expected to pass near the Hawaiian Islands on August 23 and 24.
“The hurricane is likely to bring excessive rainfall and violent winds,” said the advisory.
At the time of writing, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has classified Lane as a potent Category 4 hurricane.
Weather conditions could cause flash flooding and landslides and disrupt the following essential services:

- Power distribution
- Water and food supply
- Telecommunications networks
- Emergency services
- Medical care
