Day 1
Start your trip with one of Manila’s most popular tourist activities — a bamboo bike tour around Intramuros Old Town. The easy 90-minute guided bike tour will show you the rich colonial history and well-preserved architecture of one of the oldest districts in Manila City.
From there, wander Intramuros at your own pace and watch the sunset over Manila Bay. Finish the day with dinner at Barbara’s Heritage Restaurant for a taste of classic dishes like kare-kare, adobo, palitaw, and more, plus live Filipino folk music.
Day 2
Take your second day to the streets of Binodo, the oldest Chinatown in the world, having been established in 1594. While you can explore the bustling alleys, traditional bakeries, and streetside eateries yourself, the best way to make the most of your time is to join a Binondo tour where you’ll chow down on the best Chinese and Filipino delicacies the neighbourhood has to offer.
Then, stick with the food theme and embark on a tour of the Dessert Museum. The interactive adventure leads guests to eight rooms full of mouthwatering sweets and unreal exhibits. Be sure to snap a few pictures and enjoy the unlimited ice cream.
Day 3
Manila is a cultural capital, home to countless museums and art galleries. Dedicate a day to museum hopping, checking out the paintings and sculptures on display at the National Museum of Fine Arts, uncovering the Philippines’ ancient traditions at the National Museum of Anthropology, and learning about the area’s biodiversity at the National Museum of Natural History.
All that learning is sure to work up an appetite. Head to the nearby Illustrado for casual dining in an exceptional setting, with a menu that promises the cosmopolitan and neoclassic flavours of Spanish, Filipino, and international dishes.
Day 4
Shopping, dining, and entertainment are all under one roof at the Mall of Asia. The fourth-largest mall in the country, Mall of Asia is home to restaurants, bars, boutiques, and cinemas, making it a popular spot for foreign and domestic travellers alike to enjoy some retail therapy and a cool dose of air conditioning.
Keep the good times rolling by checking out Poblacion. Home to many hostels and artsy boutique establishments, the neighbourhood transforms into a vibrant club scene once the sun goes down. Take in the street-side restaurants, bars, and clubs on a self-guided pub crawl, and maybe even make new friends along the way!
Day 5
Just outside of Manila lies Batangas City, which is home to some truly gorgeous beaches. Laiya Beach is renowned for its fine white sand and clear waters, while Anilao is an ideal destination for snorkelling thanks to its abundant marine life and vibrant coral reefs. Wherever you end up, a fun day on the water is all but guaranteed.
For dining, be sure to check out the fare at Cala Laiya. The restaurant is inspired by the abundance of the region and driven by the seasons of southern Batangas, with organic local farms and bountiful seafood anchoring the menu. You’ll taste the difference in key ingredients like the fresh tamarind and homegrown mangoes.
From city views to beachside bliss, experience everything Manila has to offer by visiting the Air Canada website to book your flight today. Adventure awaits!
