Canada’s Department of National Defence has an open tender for its latest training tool: marijuana simulation goggles.

According to a post on the government’s Buy and Sell website, Canadian Forces is looking to buy 26 Marijuana Simulation Kits. These “allow users to experience first-hand, the deficits marijuana creates on the body in a similar fashion to ‘Alcohol Goggles.'”

“The purpose of the Marijuana Simulation Kits is to raise awareness of marijuana impairment, reduce risk of marijuana impairment, and promote healthy lifestyles within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF),” states the post.

The kit itself would include more than just the goggles. A ton of accessories are also on the request list.

The full list of accessories includes a grid map, six activity balls, and ten LED activity pens, standards in any such kits.

While this all sounds made up, these kits actually exist as requested.

Davtech, a Canadian company, currently offers these simulators.

“The Fatal Vision Marijuana Simulation Experience – Event Kit is a complete package containing six activities and the required accessories to help you deliver a memorable experience about the potentially dangerous consequences of impairment resulting from recreational marijuana use,” reads its website. “Lessons and activities demonstrate the loss of visual perception, short-term memory loss, altered visual perception and slowed reaction time and decision making.”

The cost of the simulation kits, according to Fatal Vision’s American page, starts at $1,699.00 US each.

And the Canadian Forces need these soon.

They are requesting that Marijuana Simulation Kits must be “delivered by April 30, 2018, or as soon as possible.” They are looking to contract these kits until March 31, 2022.

The tender for the marijuana goggles closes on March 21, 2018.
