A new, somewhat smokier day has dawned over Canada, though only two cannabis stores are open for business in Calgary, Alberta.
Nova Cannabis at Willow Park and 420 Premium Market, at locations situated less than two kilometres away from one another, are the only brick and mortar stores where Calgarians can legally purchase cannabis on legalization day.

The recreational drug is also available to Albertans across the province at Albertacannabis.org, though the delivery time may be too long of a wait for those who lined up at the two cannabis stores this morning.
There is some relief on the horizon for those who prefer buying their bud from a physical store, as two additional Calgary stores have been licenced by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.
Appearing on the list of licensees but not the list of interim licenced retail locations, both Beltline Cannabis Calgary and Co-op Cannabis Calgary could open within the coming days.
The stores will be located at 806 12th Avenue SW and 7-8720 MacLeod Trail SE, respectively, and Beltline Cannabis Calgary owner Karen Barry said in a phone interview that her store could be open as soon as November 1.
At the time of publication, Daily Hive had not heard back from Co-op Cannabis about a potential opening date and hours.
With Calgary’s current cannabis stores seeing massive lineups and some products on the online store already being sold out just one day into legalization, we expect that any additional cannabis stores in the city would see a customer or two, at the very least.
