The Canadian men’s national soccer team are heading into historic territory at the FIFA World Cup.

After a Round of 32 win on Sunday — their first ever knockout win at a men’s FIFA World Cup — Canada is just four wins away from winning it all. A long shot? Sure, of course, but they’re still one step further than they’ve ever been before.

Next Saturday, they’ll be taking on one of two teams with a bit of history of success in recent editions of this tournament, as Canada once again step into the biggest game in program history.

Who, where, and when are Canada playing next?

Canada is set to face the winner of Netherlands-Morocco, who face off Monday night at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT. Canada’s match against one of those two teams will start at 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT on Saturday, July 4, taking place in Houston.

Netherlands has historically been a soccer powerhouse just short of the sport’s biggest prize, having finished three-time FIFA World Cup runners-up including most recently in 2010.

Morocco, meanwhile, were in Canada’s group in the 2022 edition of the tournament, beating them 2-1 en route to a run all the way to the semifinal, their best-ever finish at the tournament.

Both teams have picked up two wins and a draw so far in the tournament, with Netherlands topping Group F while Morocco finished second in Group C behind Brazil due to goal difference.

TSN1 and TSN4 are both currently scheduled to show the next Canada game. Additionally, both CTV and Crave also have access to broadcast and stream it in Canada should you have access to either of those.

How did Canada make the FIFA World Cup Round of 16?

The host country secured its place in the knockout rounds with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before a 6-0 thrashing of Qatar for their first-ever FIFA World Cup win. Though Canada lost 2-1 against Switzerland in their final group stage match, their two previous results proved enough to earn them second place.

Canada came through with a 1-0 victory on Sunday over South Africa in Los Angeles to secure their spot in the final 16 teams left in the 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup. Midfielder Stephen EustĂĄquio provided the winning goal, coming through with a strike in the 92nd minute to lift Canada to the historic win.

“You never crossed the heat. You went after it, played at the point. Moment after moment, you are Canadian heroes,” Canada coach Jesse Marsch told the team in a memorable post-game speech.
