A GoFundMe campaign launched to help the family of a Whitecourt man who was murdered over the weekend has raised nearly $30,000.

David Beauchesne, 44, was killed on Saturday after a shooting near the Whitecourt Airport, with the 43-year-old suspect being detained by RCMP on Highway 43 on the same day and was later charged with second-degree murder.

The GoFundMe stated that Beauchesne left behind a wife, Jessica, and three children: Jessica, Olivia, and Marcus.

“We are all truly devastated by this, Dave wasn’t just a brilliant father and husband but a pillar of our community and loved by all who crossed paths with him,” the campaign stated, adding that the fundraiser would like to show his family the support and love they deserve during these “incredibly difficult days ahead.”
“If you can assist with this by donating what little you can, we would greatly appreciate it,” the GoFundMe added, with a goal of $50,000 pegged as of Tuesday afternoon.
