Downtown Edmonton grocery store shutters after more than 30 years

A downtown Edmonton grocery store has shuttered after over three decades.
In a social media post, Sunterra Market revealed it would be closing its Commerce Place location, a staple for many of those working downtown, after 32 years.
“After more than 30 wonderful years being a part of your daily routines, lunch breaks, and celebrations, we have made the difficult decision to close our Commerce Place location. Our final day of operations will be Friday, May 29,” it said.

The spot has been popular with those living and working downtown for decades, offering a quick spot to get a coffee or lunch on the go.
While Sunterra’s Commerce Place closure is a loss, the grocery chain confirmed that it wouldn’t be leaving Edmonton altogether, with its Lendrum location still in operation.
Sunterra Catering will also still be offered in Edmonton and will now be fully serviced through Lendrum for delivery or pickup.
