I tried these Vancouver-made ready-to-drink tequila cocktails and found my drink of the summer

I’ve sampled my fair share of canned cocktails in my time (look, I’m Irish, okay?!). And one thing I’ve learned is that not all ready-to-drink beverages are created equal.

Some are too syrupy and sweet, some are so bland I might as well be sipping on sparkling water, and it can be hard to find one that strikes a balance.

Lucky for me, I got a chance to try Suntail Drink Co.’s line of micro-carbonated tequila cocktails. The Vancouver company has just launched a new Signature Series 6-pack, so you can try their three flavours — Citron Lemon Lime Marg, Sandia Lemon Watermelon, and Soleada Tropical Mango Marg — together and find your favourite.

I was curious to see if they could actually deliver on the promise of a cocktail “crafted without compromise.” Here’s what I thought!

My favourite cocktail in the world is a classic margarita, so I have to admit I had high expectations for the Citron Lemon Lime Marg. Thankfully, it delivered. Bright, citrusy, and refreshing, it captured that familiar lime-forward flavour I love perfectly.

Next up was the Sandia Lemon Watermelon flavour, which tasted like summer in a can. The watermelon added a subtle fruitiness that complemented the citrus notes perfectly without overpowering them, making it the kind of drink I’d happily bring to my next beach day or barbecue hangout.

Then there’s the newcomer: Soleada Tropical Mango Marg. This one immediately stood out — it’s sweet, fruit-forward, and the ripe mango flavour is at the forefront. But, at the same time, it strikes a nice balance between tropical sweetness and tangy citrus.

The overall thing I noticed was how light and refreshing all three drinks felt, and I think this is mostly because Suntail keeps things simple with just 4 grams of sugar per can and no artificial colours or flavours.

Another standout feature is the micro-carbonation. Instead of aggressive fizz, the bubbles are very subtle and smooth. Combine this with premium blue agave tequila, and you’ve got an experience that feels more elevated than your more typical ready-to-drink options.
