Summer McIntosh has accomplished more than your average 19-year-old.
In fact, there’s an argument that she’s the most decorated teenage athlete in Canadian history.
The Toronto native added to her growing list of achievements on Friday by receiving the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Female Athlete of 2025.
It was the third consecutive year that she won the award, putting her in historic company among Canadian athletes.
McIntosh just became the first female athlete to win the award in three consecutive years since figure skater Barbara Ann Scott won it from 1946 to 1948.
That makes it 78 years since a Canadian athlete has been named the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award winner three straight times. McIntosh is also the only person, outside of Scott, to win the award in three consecutive years.
Golfer Marlene Streit has won the award a record five times. Outside of Streit, Scott and McIntosh, the only other athletes who have won the award at least three times are speed skater Catriona Le May Doan and golfer Brooke Henderson.
Although McIntosh is remembered by many for her dominance at the 2024 Summer Olympics, there’s an argument that 2025 was her most impressive year to date. She won four gold medals at the World Championships, the most gold she’s received at any single Championship or Olympic event.

McIntosh also received bronze in the 8oo-metre freestyle, an event she hadn’t competed in since 2021.
She’ll have more opportunities to add to her award cabinet next year with the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and the World Aquatic Championships in Beijing.
No athlete in the history of the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award has ever won in four consecutive years.
