One person taken to hospital after reported explosion at Strathcona Spirits
One person was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out following reports of an explosion at Strathcona Spirits Distillery in Edmonton on Wednesday morning.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) says it received the reports at around 10:16 am in the area of 101 Street and 81 Avenue NW.
Fire crews arrived four minutes later and discovered a fire at the back of the distillery. EFRS said the fire was brought under control by 10:30 am.
A photo uploaded to Reddit shows thick smoke pouring from the back of the historic building.
EFRS said one person was taken to hospital by an ambulance, and no other injuries have been reported.
The fire was declared out at 11:23 am, EFRS told Daily Hive.
