Starbucks is making some huge changes to its rewards program in Canada

Starbucks is giving its Rewards program a serious overhaul in Canada, giving customers the chance to score some sweet benefits.
Launching on Mar. 10, Starbucks will be introducing a new three-tiered structure for its Rewards program, with Green, Gold and Reserved levels.
Each of the levels offers unique benefits to its customers, based on the number of Stars members they have earned. Stars will continue to be earned on purchases and redeemed for rewards such as free drinks, food or merchandise.
In response to customer feedback, Green level members will be able to keep Stars from expiring through monthly activity, while for Gold and Reserved members, their stars will never expire.
When the program launches in March, members will see their tier designation, which is based on the user’s Starbucks Rewards engagement in 2025. All existing Stars will also remain in your account.
What’s changed?
Green members will earn one Star per dollar spent, receive a free food or beverage reward that can be claimed on their birthday, and have early access to select food and beverage drops. There is also a brand-new benefit called Free Mod Mondays, where guests can get one complimentary beverage modification on one select Monday per month.
Stars will be valid for six months but can be extended for a month by completing a monthly qualifying activity, such as making a purchase or redeeming a reward.
The next tier is Gold, and a member must earn 500 Stars in 12 months to reach it. At this level, members will earn 1.5 Stars per dollar spent or 15 Stars for every $10 spent. In addition to the Green level perks, Gold members will have a seven-day window to pick up their birthday freebie, their Stars won’t expire, and there will also be four exclusive Double Star days each year where members can earn twice the Stars.
The highest tier is Reserve, at 2,500 Stars in a 12-month period. While Reserve members will receive all the same benefits as Green and Gold, there will be a 30-day window for collecting birthday treats and six more Double Star days each year. Members at this level will also earn 1.7 Stars per dollar spent.
Reserve members will also have the opportunity to access exclusive opportunities, including all-expenses-paid trips to destinations such as Tokyo, Milan, or Costa Rica to celebrate their coffee culture.
To retain your status at each of the levels, you’ll need to earn 500 stars for Gold or 2,500 for Reserve at Starbucks the following year.
As well as the new tier system, Starbucks has also introduced a new reward at 60 Stars, which will offer $2 off a qualifying purchase.
