Sportsnet reveals broadcast team for Edmonton Oilers-Dallas Stars playoff series
The Edmonton Oilers are back in the Western Conference Final, and with that comes a revamped broadcast team.
With the Oilers now the only remaining Canadian team left in contention for the Stanley Cup, Sportsnet has decided to switch up the broadcast team for their upcoming series against the Dallas Stars.
While Oilers fans were largely thrilled to finally have Jack Michaels and Louie DeBrusk call playoff games through the first two rounds, Sportsnet has assigned a legendary broadcast team to see Edmonton through the West Final.
Chris Cuthbert will take over play-by-play duties while Craig Simpson will jump in as the colour commentator for the series. In a surprise move by the network, Oilers icon Gene Principe will be sticking around for at least another series as the on-broadcast reporter.

Cuthbert and Simpson are widely seen as Sportsnet’s top team of broadcasters and are usually assigned to either nationally-broadcast games throughout the regular season or Toronto Maple Leafs matchups.
Oilers fans will be pleased to see that Principe is sticking around this far into the playoffs. The veteran Edmonton reporter doesn’t usually get assignments this deep into the postseason, but there is nobody in the industry who deserves a chance like this more than Gene.
For those disappointed in Michaels no longer being on the Oilers Sportsnet broadcast, there are still options. The electric Edmonton play-by-play man will be moving to radio for the remainder of this Oilers playoff run and can be heard on 880 CHED in the Alberta capital during each game. He will be taking over from Cam Moon in that regard and will reunite with his old radio broadcast partner Bob Stuaffer.

The Western Conference Final is set to begin on Wednesday night in Dallas, with Game 1 puck drop set for 6 p.m. MDT.
