Sobeys Inc. has reported that an employee at a liquor store in Edmonton has tested positive for COVID-19.

The food and beverage retailer confirmed that an employee who was working at the Sobeys Liquor at 1026 Webber Greens Drive NW in Edmonton has tested positive. This staff member last worked on June 14.

News of this case comes just after four Edmonton restaurants closed their doors over coronavirus cases on-site this week.

Sobeys outlines that after each case is reported, they ensure the store where the individual worked is deep cleaned and sanitized.

“Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location, with store signage, outlining our steps to manage the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, with each case that is reported, we will deep clean and sanitize the store location.”

The company also says it is working closely with public health officials to investigate the teammate’s known points of contact and recent shifts and will notify all teammates who require self-isolation for two weeks.

Sobeys has a public record of all the confirmed cases in its company across the country.
