Could the Edmonton Oilers switch up their jersey combo heading into the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs?
Edmonton will open up their playoff schedule at home against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night. When they do, they will almost certainly be donning their iconic blue and orange home jerseys that have been a staple of the team since their inception.
That doesn’t seem to be in question, as it’s the only dark set of jerseys in their arsenal this season. But could Edmonton swap out their usual away look in favour of their new alternate jerseys?
Specifically, their lucky off-white alternate jerseys that brought Edmonton so much success during the regular season.

Every NHL team is required to pick a home and away set in the playoffs and are not allowed to bring in a third jersey during a run. As a result, there are always a few teams who will choose to adopt their third jersey full-time during the playoffs.
The Pittsburgh Penguins opted to do so this season with their yellow alternate uniforms, as has the Dallas Stars with their 1990’s inspired set. The Oilers are also no stranger to this, having donned alternate jerseys as their playoff homes in both 2017 and 2022.
On one hand, Edmonton absolutely dominated the competition when wearing their alternate uniforms this season. In seven games wearing their third jerseys this season, the Oilers went 5-1-1 and outscored the opposition by a 36-22 margin.
The only regulation loss in the cream-white jerseys came in a 7-3 blowout against the Minnesota Wild.
It’s also been a popular look in the Alberta capital as you can spot quite a few Oilers fans wearing the jersey on any given night. It would also switch up the vibe after two heartbreaking Stanley Cup Final losses.
Yet, on the other hand, while Edmonton has donned alternate jerseys in recent playoff runs, those uniforms both featured the iconic Oilers symbol. This year’s third jersey features an all-new word mark and is devoid of the Oilers logo that everyone has become accustomed to.
Could that be enough for Edmonton to decide against wearing that jersey in the playoffs? You have to admit it would look strange if the Oilers won the Stanley Cup and raised the trophy while wearing a jersey without their iconic logo.
Either way, fans won’t have to wait long for the team to reveal their decision. Edmonton is set to play it’s first road playoff game in Anaheim on Friday.
