RCMP southwest of Edmonton say an alleged road rage incident resulted in a vehicle rollover and one man being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mounties say that at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, Drayton Valley RCMP responded to a complaint of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 22 on the south side of Drayton Valley.
The vehicles had been travelling eastbound when they collided, and one rolled over into the westbound ditch. The driver of the vehicle in the ditch was extracted by Drayton Valley Fire Services and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation revealed that the collision was caused by a ‘‘road rage’’ incident, resulting in the arrest of the driver of the other vehicle. No other individuals were involved in the incident. The highway was partially closed, resulting in slow-moving traffic, while RCMP collision analysts attended and conducted their investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Kevin Hornle (55), a resident of Drayton Valley, was charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and aggravated assault. He was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on June 17, 2025.
“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation while we conducted our investigation,” said Sgt Dan Ferri, Operations NCO for the Drayton Valley RCMP. “This is a good time to remind the public to be courteous on the road and always drive safely.”
