A new Nordic spa experience is coming to central Edmonton

A new Nordic spa experience is coming to Edmonton, complete with saunas, hot tubs, cold plunges, and an indoor/outdoor circuit.
Called R贸, the new spa is located right next to The Grindstone in Ritchie and will combine Nordic-inspired thermal circuits with massage treatments and spaces designed for relaxation.
The name takes inspiration from its Scandinavian roots and refers to calm, stillness, peace, and freedom from distraction. Its comfortable and inviting design blends Nordic influences with a modern feel, designed to be a new social experience for the city.

R贸 will offer an indoor/outdoor experience centred around a thermal circuit, with hot tubs, cold plunges, saunas, and spaces to relax between treatments. The hot tubs will also use salt water and are designed for a softer soak that is gentler on the skin.

The design will also allow for the space to be used year-round, as the outdoor area includes pergolas with louvred roofs that can open and close depending on the weather. Which begs the question: are you brave enough to cold plunge in the middle of a cold Edmonton winter?
Massage therapy will also be part of the R贸 experience, with treatments available as an add-on to a thermal circuit or as standalone sessions.
The new spa is expected to open soon, subject to final permit approvals from the City of Edmonton.
Contrast therapy and Nordic spas have exploded in popularity in recent years. Elemental Recovery and Spa opened in northwest Edmonton in early May, and another major addition is on the way, with Scandinave Spa set to open its Edmonton location in 2028.
