Air Canada has just released their list of finalists for their best new restaurants across the country, and one of Edmonton’s best has made the cut.

This year, Olia was named one of the finalists for Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants. Only two restaurants in Alberta made the list of 31 finalists, with the other restaurant accompanying Olia being DOPO and Bar Rocca.

Olia is Edmonton’s premier Italian restaurant, which sits in the Citizen building in downtown. The restaurant, brought to the city by Allen Anderl and Chef Daniel Costa, also holds two gems in its pocket, with Mimi, its cocktail bar, and Va Caffè, its daytime spot.

“To the delight of loyalists, some favourites of Costa’s former Uccellino found a new home—cloudlike whipped ricotta, charred cabbage with Ligurian walnut pesto,” says Air Canada in its finalist write-up. “New fans abound with Olia’s leek and truffle arancini tanned like a week in Positano, saba-stained culatello, and panna cotta with cherries kissed by honey grappa.”

The top 10 winners will be announced by celebrity chef Chuck Hughes on Nov. 17 in Toronto, but until then, we’re waiting in anticipation.

In addition to being a finalist for Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants, Olia has been recognized by another organization for its incredible interior design.

Olia, along with the adjacent Mimi and Va Caffè, has been longlisted for the restaurant interior category for the 2025 Dazeen Awards. The culmination of these three restaurants creates a lively cultural destination, one fitting of an award of this stature.

Results for the Dazeen Awards will be announced at the annual Dazeen Awards party on Nov. 25 in London.

Olia has been garnering a lot of attention this year, and its popularity only continues to grow. This Italian spot ranks among the best in Edmonton and is now considered one of the best in the country.

Take a bite when you have a chance, as the experience is sure to blow you away.
