Edmonton Oilers goaltender is now the father of two boys after he and his wife, Chloe, welcomed their second child earlier this week.
The 26-year-old was not on the bench for Edmonton’s 3-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken as he was spending time with his new son. The team called upon U-Sports goalie Tyler Palmer to act as a backup.
Skinner returned to Rogers Place ice on Tuesday for a quick optional practice, after which he met with the media and revealed the name of his newborn.
“Baby came out beautiful and my wife, Chloe, is doing great,” Skinner confirmed. “His name is Darcy Daniel Skinner.
“A really good name for him, fits his face, fits his energy, we love it.”
"Everyone's doing well, everyone's healthy… Another moment that's just one of the best days ever."

This is the second child for the couple since they got married back in 2020. During his stint with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Skinner met Chloe following a WHL game. The couple welcomed their first baby, Beau, in January 2023.
Skinner had high praise for his wife, who delivered Darcy a week ahead of schedule.
“A superhero, obviously, don’t know how she’s able to do it like that,” Skinner said. “I didn’t do anything and I was tired. I can only imagine how she was feeling, just an absolute superhero.
“Another moment that is [one of] the best days ever.”
Chloe shared the first photos of Darcy onto her Instagram this morning which featured Beau holding his new little brother.

While becoming a big brother can be stressful for some kids, Skinner says Beau has handled it like a pro.
“He’s been doing amazing,” Skinner said. “He’s definitely already a really amazing big brother, he came to the hospital and gave [Darcy] a nice stuffie for a gift just to welcome him into the world.
“It can make you emotional seeing how your two boys are sitting with each other.”
Skinner will not have a lot of time to spend with the new addition to his family, as he is right back to work with the Pacific Division-leading Oilers. He skated this morning and could be back in the Edmonton cage as early as tomorrow against the Detroit Red Wings.
Oilers fans will be hoping he can channel some of that newfound dad energy as the team prepares for the final stretch of the season.
