The Edmonton Oilers are making sure fans are pumped about the start of the new season.
Edmonton is set to open up the regular season with a pair of home games on Oct. 8 and 11 against the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks. To help ring in the new season, the Oilers announced a pair of free pre-game tailgate parties outside of Rogers Place for fans to attend before each of those first two games.
The parties will be held at the Fan Park at Ice District, just east of Rogers Place. Admission is completely free and is open to fans of all ages, not just those who have tickets to the games.
We're hosting #Oilers Pre-Game Tailgates inside the tent in @IceDistrict Fan Park prior to the first two games of the season on Oct. 8 vs. Calgary & Oct. 11 vs. Vancouver! 🥳
All ages welcome. Free admission. Live DJs. Alumni autographs. $6 beers.

Both tailgate parties will run from 5 p.m. MST until the 8 p.m. puck drop for both games. These will not be watch parties, and fans will not be able to watch either game at these events.
The festivities will take place inside a 30,000-square-foot heated tent and will feature foods, drinks (including $6 beers), games, and even a live DJ. Oilers alumni will also be in attendance to sign merchandise for fans.
For families wanting to bring their kids, there will also be face-painting and appearances from the Oilers’ mascot Hunter, Blue Ice Crew, and Drum and Bass Crew.
While it won’t quite have the level of excitement that the Oilers’ playoff watch parties have gathered over the seasons, it will still be an easy way for fans to get in on the fun of welcoming in a new season.
With the team coming off two straight Stanley Cup Final defeats, there is a real hunger from the fanbase to finally finish the job this season. To do that, they will have to put together another good regular season, which all starts with these first two home games.
