It looks like Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is progressing well in his recovery.
The road to getting back into NHL action appears to be going to plan for the veteran as he posted a photo to his Instagram earlier today showing him back on Rogers Place ice for the first time all season.
Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli captured the post and shared it on X, but it has since disappeared from Kane’s Instagram.
“Good day of work today,” Kane initially captioned the post. “First skate in a long time. Feeling better every day.”

The 33-year-old Kane has not played at all this season as he is recovering from several injuries sustained last season. The laundry list of injuries that he listed at the start of the season included work being done on both of his hip abductors, two torn lower abdomen muscles, and two hernias.
On top of that, he also underwent successful knee surgery earlier this month. The recovery time for that knee operation was expected to take about four to eight weeks and would put his recovery from his other injuries on hold.
This created a murky timeline for his eventual return to the lineup. While Kane has mentioned that he is confident that he can play regular season games, the Oilers organization has not put out a definite timeline.
It does seem like he is moving well these days as his fiancee, Mara, posted a video of Kane shovelling snow off the couple’s balcony onto her Instagram story earlier today.

Kane is coming off a 24-goal campaign with the Oilers, appearing in 77 regular season games. He tapered off in the playoffs with just four goals in 20 games and eventually had to sit out most of the Stanley Cup Final with injuries.
We shall see if Kane can find a way to break back into the lineup before the postseason hits.
