Edmonton Oilers cutting Rogers Place concession prices for certain items

The Edmonton Oilers are trying to make things a little more affordable for fans watching games at Rogers Place.

Oilers fans have been feeling the pinch at the rink this season. Ticket prices are at an all-time high, and concession prices inside Rogers Place have also caused some uproar among sections of the fanbase. The result has been a slight downturn in attendance for Oilers games this season, with the team experiencing their lowest turnout in nearly four seasons earlier this month.

The organization seems to be taking steps to alleviate some of those costs, as they introduced price cuts to select concession items on Sunday. As part of an initiative called “Decade Deals,” which celebrates the 10th anniversary of Rogers Place, fans can now access a series of $10 deals across the rink.

These deals will be available at every Oilers home game moving forward.

While these deals won’t affect every item at Rogers Place concessions, they will provide a little bit of relief around the rink and ensure that fans will be able to snag food and drink at a lower cost than usual.

The deals included in this program include:

  • $10 limited-edition cream Oilers script T-shirt (inside Rogers Place at Sections 119 and 127)
  • $10 Decade Burger (portable concession located at Section 107)
  • $10 Perogy Dog (portable concession located at Section 107)
  • $10 Decade Deal Combo featuring a 12oz. can of Molson Canadian and a Nathan’s Famous All Beef Hot Dog (Molson Hockey House)

There is also a $10.75 parking deal included in this list of price cuts, which will be valid at the Rogers Place Arena North Lots and will require fans to enter the promo code “OILERSPARKING10” during online checkout.

It remains to be seen whether these changes will help get attendance back up to normal levels. The Oilers have proved to be a very exciting team, and Connor McDavid is experiencing the best start to his NHL career.

There should be every reason to have Rogers Place sold out on a nightly basis, but people don’t seem to have enough disposable income to keep it up. This might not be the big price cut to tickets that some fans might be hoping for, but it’s a step in the right direction.
