Edmonton Oilers players are celebrating playoff wins with iconic Chappell Roan song

When it comes to playoff victory songs, the Edmonton Oilers are not casual about their choices.

Fans across the hockey world have come to know Los Lobos’ “La Bamba” as being synonymous with the Oilers’ success over the last couple of years. That song has roots in being a favourite of longtime Edmonton dressing room attendant Joey Moss and was adopted by the team shortly after his death in 2020.

While La Bamba still rings out throughout Rogers Place after every single Oilers win, the team has added another song to their victory playlist, and it’s an interesting choice. 880 CHED’s Brenden Escott revealed on social media on Sunday night that Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” was blaring in the Edmonton locker room for the second straight playoff victory.

It sounds like Connor McDavid and the rest of the Oilers also can’t ignore the crazy visions of them in L.A. as they look to take Game 5 in California on Tuesday night.

Offside can independently confirm Escott’s claim that the Oilers do like to play “Pink Pony Club” after each playoff victory. It’s quite a departure from the arena rock genre of music we usually see teams celebrate to.

The 27-year-old pop star rose to superstardom just last year with the release of her The Rise of and Fall of Midwest Princess album. Roan won a Grammy earlier this year for “Best New Artist.”

The Oilers are feeling pretty hot to go after holding home ice with a pair of Game 3 and 4 victories to even up their series with the Kings at 2-2. Though, despite the winning streak, Edmonton should hold off on hosting a red wine supernova as L.A. has been dominant on home ice this season, having lost just six regulation games at Crypto.com Arena all year.

If it weren’t for the femininomenon of Evan Bouchard’s two-goal performance and Leon Draisaitl saying “good luck, babe” to the Kings with an electric OT winner, the Oilers would be facing elimination.

Goaltending for both sides has been as easy to decipher as looking through a kaleidoscope, as no goalie in this series has a save percentage above .890 through the first four games.

It hasn’t been an easy series by any stretch for the Oilers, but they will look to keep on dancing in West Hollywood with the help of Chappell Roan.
