A new Costco is in the works just outside of Edmonton

A long-rumoured Costco location just outside of Edmonton is seemingly in the works, with a new rendering showing the big-box retailer popping up in Stony Plain.
The Hughes Commercial Realty Group (HCR) updated its brochure today, Sept. 14, 2026, for the Stony Plain Power Centre/Business Park, which is situated along Highway 16A and Veterans Blvd.
The group’s website touts that the area will be “anchored by a brand-new Costco development” and is “the regionâs newest mixed-use commercial destination.”

In a former overview of lots up for grabs from the HCR Group, the spot that now states Costco was formerly labelled as “pending big box retailer.”

There will also be another big box retailer setting up shop to the northeast of the new Costco at the Stony Plain Power Centre/Business Park. Other establishments currently listed include a 56-court pickleball facility.
Phase one of the new business park will have a target tenant possession date of Fall 2027/Spring 2028, while phases two and three currently have no pegged date.
Daily Hive has reached out to the HCR Group for more information regarding the new Costco, but as of writing, we have yet to hear back.
As for a statement from Costco itself, the company “cannot comment on locations that will be opening more than three months from today,” per its media request form.
