An update from the Province of Alberta has supplied new info on coronavirus cases in the province.

According to the Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, there have been 25 new cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of known cases to 6,926.

However, of that total only 679 are still active — the lowest number of active cases that Alberta has seen since March 30, Hinshaw stated.

There were three two deaths over the past 24 hours, bringing the total coronavirus-related deaths to 141 in Alberta.

“As we gradually lift restrictions, we must not forget that this virus can lead to serious outcomes and that it will be with us for many months to come,” Hinshaw said.

She also added that 3,168 coronavirus tests were conducted in the province over the past 24 hours.

Total recoveries have reached 6,106 in Alberta, and there are currently 43 cases in hospital, four of which are in intensive care units.
