Freson Bros.’ resident bakery has opened up its own storefront right in Edmonton!

Mother Dough Bread Co. is the newest bakery in Edmonton, located on the west end and serving up fresh bread and made-to-order sandwiches. Its bread may be familiar to some, as it is the bakery and sourdough starter that can be found in the popular Freson Bros.

It opened on Nov. 7, serving Winterburn Point in the west end of the city.

At Mother Dough Bread Co., every sandwich uses bread that was made using Charlie, Freson Bros.’ own Mother Dough, or sourdough starter, which has been carefully nurtured since 2015.

This starter is one of the best, as Charlie has earned a special place as #131 in the Puratos World Sourdough Library in Saint-Vith, Belgium. It’s one of the only three Canadian starters in the library and stands among only 160 sourdoughs recognized worldwide.

At the bakery, it currently sells three main types of bread using this sourdough starter: the Famous Sourdough, Sourdough Focaccia, and Sourdough Baguette.

These breads are all fantastic for sandwiches, as well as sides or dipping. They utilize every type of bread for the sandwiches they serve.

Its current sandwich of the month is December to Remember, with pulled turkey, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and mayo. You can also get any of their classic sandwiches, soups, salads, or even their famous cinnamon buns.

This new bakery is bringing more of your favourites into the city, so don’t walk, run to Mother Dough Bread Co.!
