Who doesn’t love a good Canadian Olympic love story?

The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics are set to be a memorable one for over 200 Canadian athletes, but it has the potential to be a little extra special for curlers Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant.

The married couple is competing as a team in Italy as part of the mixed curling doubles tournament. This will be their first Olympic Games as teammates, though Peterman and Gallant competed separately at the Beijing 2022 Games.

Sparks are sure to be flying between the duo as they look to capture Olympic gold together.

Peterman failed to podium in her first Olympic chance, while Gallant captured bronze as part of Brad Gushue’s Canadian squad.

Though this is their first time competing at the Olympics together, they are no stranger to teaming up in the curling world. The two first met back during the 2016 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in Saskatchewan, with Gallant reaching out to Peterman on Facebook, asking to team up for the event.

The chemistry was immediate, as the couple won that event and then eventually captured the 2019 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. They represented Canada on the international stage on multiple occasions, having won silver at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, losing to Sweden, and grabbing a fifth-place finish at the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

Peterman and Gallant tied the knot in 2022 and welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Luke, in 2023.

Despite all the success on the ice together, the couple had not been able to represent Canada on the Olympic stage until now. A sixth-place finish in the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was enough to book their tickets to Italy, coincidentally the same place they spent their honeymoon.

Things have gotten off to a good start for the duo, as they took home a dominant 10-5 victory over Czechia in their Olympic opener on Wednesday. That was despite an unusual power outage delaying the match.

It can’t get much better for the curlers, as they will be fighting for Olympic gold and spending this upcoming Valentine’s Day together in Milan.
