Knoblauch goes on fiery expletive-filled rant to Edmonton Oilers

Fans aren’t the only ones frustrated by the Edmonton Oilers’ slow start to the 2025-26 season.

The Oilers have been wildly inconsistent as we near the quarter mark of the 2025-26 campaign, as they sit outside of a playoff spot with an 8-7-4 record. By all accounts, this team has more than enough skill to win games, but they’ve seemingly been unable to eliminate untimely, and frankly unexcusable, errors from their game.

The group as a whole is capable of much more than they’ve shown to this point, and it’s clear that everybody, including head coach Kris Knoblauch, is fed up. The 47-year-old bench boss recently went on an epic tirade when speaking to his team during an intermission, which was uploaded in the Oilers+ The Drop Episode.

“You have no chance of winning against any f*cking body,” Knoblauch can be heard saying. “On the attack, we’re f*cking standing still here, and we’re f*cking looking to dipsy doodle and make a f*cking little pass.”

There has been some criticism directed at Knoblauch this season, with some fans suggesting he isn’t hard enough on this group. While he may not show a fiery side to the media, this clip shows that he has no issue calling out his players behind closed doors.

“We carry it up and we f*cking run out of real estate,” Knoblauch continued in his heated rant. “We’re still looking to make a play. If we can’t f*cking clean up that, we can’t f*cking clean up anything.”

The Oilers were appearing to clean things up as of late with wins over the Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. That stretch was short-lived, however, as they fell to the Blue Jackets on Thursday by a 5-4 final. They’ll look to right the ship on Saturday versus one of the NHL’s best in the Carolina Hurricanes.
