There’s a new Polish restaurant tucked within an Edmonton coffee shop

There’s a new Polish restaurant in Edmonton, located right in a local coffee shop.
Led by Chef Filliep Lament, JOLA’s is the newest addition to Edmonton’s culinary scene. This trained chef has over 15 years of experience in Canadian kitchens, and JOLA’S is an homage to the food of his childhood as prepared by his mom, Jolanta, also known as Jola.
Currently, JOLA’S calls Candid Coffee Highlands home. It’s nestled in this coffee shop with plans to stay until July, working to find a permanent home.
As described on its website, JOLA’S is a “contemporary interpretation of the traditional Polish ‘milk bar’ (bar mleczny), offering nostalgic yet refined Eastern European cuisine in a modern, welcoming environment.”

Its menu has just gone up on its Instagram, with loads of traditional Polish dishes.
The starters, or przystawki, as it’s said in Polish, consist of Fermented Beet Soup, Devilled Eggs, and Cucumber and Dill Salad, to name a few.
Going into the mains, we can see the classic pierogies and cabbage rolls make an appearance, alongside a Greek Style Haddock Casserole, aswell as Beef Goulash and Buckwheat.
“As the thaw comes, expect to see changes and some more modern takes on the Polish classics,” says the team on Instagram.
Although the menu will be changing, the team on Instagram said the pierogies would be staying for good. Cheers to that!
Now, the restaurant is open and ready for business. Its hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, ready for dinner service throughout the week.
This new restaurant is certainly making a great first impression. We can’t wait to visit.
