Hockey Canada is bringing an in-arena tradition to fans in Alberta.

Though the IIHF World Junior Championship won’t be allowed to host fans this year, you’ll still be able to participate in the 50/50.

In partnership with the Hockey Alberta Foundation, Hockey Canada announced today that an online raffle would be held on every World Juniors game day, including pre-tournament games on December 22 and 23. The puck drops on the tournament in the Edmonton bubble on Christmas Day, with Team Canada playing its opener on December 26.

Fans in Alberta can purchase tickets from 9 am to 10 pm MT on game days for as low as $5 through the Hockey Canada website.

ā€œThe 50/50 draw is a tradition synonymous with live sports, and although fans will be enjoying the World Juniors from home this year, Hockey Canada, the Hockey Canada Foundation and the Hockey Alberta Foundation wanted to keep the tradition alive and ensure fans continue to have an enjoyable World Juniors experience,ā€ said Tim Leer, executive director of the Hockey Alberta Foundation. ā€œAs fans in Alberta tune in to watch Team Canada defend its gold medal, they have a great opportunity to engage in the World Juniors while contributing to grassroots hockey programs throughout the province.ā€

Each 50/50 jackpot will be split by the person holding the winning ticket and charity, as half the money will be “reinvested into grassroots hockey programs to help improve the quality of life of Albertans through hockey while supporting the local community.”
