If you’re in search of a real winter experience, well, look no further: Edmonton ranks among Canada’s top-trending winter travel destinations, according to the latest winter travel outlook from Expedia.
Released on Wednesday, the travel booking company annually highlights winter travel trends, the best ways to save, and when to book.
Expedia found that Edmonton was the ninth most popular domestic winter travel destination based on lodging searches, trailing just behind eighth-place Calgary, and ahead of Ottawa.
Other trending and top travel destinations in Alberta include Banff and Jasper, with some Canadians opting to swap sand for snow on their winter vacation.

Expedia says Canadians are flocking to sunny getaways this winter, with Mexico and the Caribbean leading the pack. Cancun, Punta Cana, and Puerto Vallarta continue to dominate searches, while rising hotspots like Acapulco, Santa María Colotepec, Islamorada, and Martinique are also seeing a surge in interest.

European escapes remain popular, too. The Canary Islands made the trending list thanks to their mild winter weather, and Italy is seeing strong momentum across destinations like Cortina d’Ampezzo and Milan as travellers lean into the winter sports season.
