Ex-Edmonton Oilers forward Jeff Skinner is out of the NHL
Former Edmonton Oilers forward Jeff Skinner may have played his final NHL game.
Skinner, a six-time 30-goal scorer, has signed a one-year contract with EHC Biel-Bienne in Switzerland. The team broke the signing themselves on social media Friday morning.

Skinner, 34, spent the 2025-26 season with the San Jose Sharks. He struggled to stay healthy and wasn’t very effective when in the lineup, managing just six goals and 13 points through 32 games. He was placed on unconditional waivers in mid-February in order to have his contract terminated, and failed to launch on anywhere else afterward.
The struggles with the Sharks came for Skinner just one season after a tough tenure with the Oilers. Though there was plenty of excitement when Edmonton signed him to a one-year deal ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, it quickly became apparent things weren’t going to work out. Skinner managed just 16 goals and 29 points in 72 games, and found himself in the press box several times as a healthy scratch during their playoff run.
Should this be it for Skinner’s NHL career, it was undoubtedly an impressive one even with his recent struggles. Along with the Oilers and Sharks, Skinner also had lengthy stretches with the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres. He logged a combined 1,110 games in his NHL career, scoring 379 goals and 712 points.
