Evander Kane speaks about his time with Edmonton Oilers and he had really nice things to say

Evander Kane may no longer be a member of the Edmonton Oilers, but he has nothing but good things to say about his experience with the organization.

Kane’s tenure with the Oilers came to an end shortly after the 2024-25 season, as he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2025. The move was viewed as a cap dump from the Oilers’ perspective, as they weren’t forced to retain any of the 34-year-old’s $5.125 million cap hit.

Though his tenure with the Oilers may not have ended the way he wished, he raved about his time in Edmonton when speaking with John Shannon and Landon Ferraro on the 100% Canucks podcast.

“It’s tough to say just one thing,” Kane said when asked what he’ll remember most about his time in Edmonton. “On and off the ice, so many great memories. Really enjoyed my time there. Special place, special group of guys, a lot of great teams.

“A lot of on and off ice success there, friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime. Nothing but great memories.”

Despite missing the entire 2024-25 regular season due to injury, Kane was able to return for the playoffs and had a big role in the Oilers reaching the Stanley Cup Final, recording six goals and 12 points in 21 games. He was a significant contributor to the Oilers in general, scoring 62 goals and 111 points in 161 regular-season outings.

Kane joined the Oilers partway through the 2021-22 season, where he had immediate success, scoring 22 goals in 43 games and another 13 in 15 playoff outings. Injuries began hampering him from that point on, though he remained an effective player in terms of both scoring and physicality when healthy.

Set to enter the last year of his four-year contract, Kane, who told Shannon and Ferraro he’s 100 per cent healthy, will be looking for a big season to ensure he can secure another big contract, whether it be in Vancouver or elsewhere.
