Return of winter: Edmonton expecting low temperatures and flurries

Apr 9 2021, 6:57 pm

Looks like winter isn’t quite finished with us, YEG.

You might not want to put away your parka just yet, because, according to The Weather Network, Edmonton temperatures are expected to be on the chilly side this weekend, with flurries in the forecast.

It’s 9ºC in the city right now, and Edmonton will see a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 11ºC on Friday afternoon before temperatures drop over the weekend.

Friday is predicted to feel like -6ºC, rising to 1ºC by Saturday morning.

A high of 5ºC is in the forecast for Saturday, and wet snow and flurries through the afternoon and evening could bring up to one centimetre of snow to the city.

Sunday will see some sunny skies, but that sunshine won’t help the temperatures at all, and a high of only 4ºC is expected.

Sunday drops to -6ºC overnight, and Monday brings another high of 4ºC and mainly sunny skies.

The forecast doesn’t show a break in the chilly weather until next Thursday, when Edmonton will finally see double digit temperatures again with a high of 11ºC predicted.

It looks like things will keep warming up into next weekend, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that temperatures continue to rise.
