Edmontonians waking up this morning may find it tough to get out of bed with the frosty temperatures, but there’s good news: a major warm-up is on the horizon this week.
The week kicks off with a chilly start as temperatures hover around -21°C, with the wind chill making it feel closer to -29°C according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). But not to worry; a huge shift is coming.

By Monday afternoon, temperatures will climb to -5°C and remain there overnight. Daytime highs for the rest of the week will range between -2°C and 2°C, leading to a big warm-up on Sunday when the high is expected to hit a balmy 9°C.
When you do the math between this morning’s low and Sunday’s high, that’s a staggering 30°C temperature swing. We love to see it!

Precipitation-wise, Edmonton could see a few flurries on Tuesday, but the rest of the week looks mostly sunny, a nice treat in the dead of winter.
So, it seems this stretch of bone-chilling cold is finally on its way out. But with that, get ready for some slushy roads!
